With daily life becoming so chaotic it’s possible to be caught up in the craze of tasks, responsibilities and daily stress to the point of forgetting what you are even working towards.
At some point you may have stopped to define a goal and started to work towards it, but do you ever go back and check to see if you’ve fully accomplished it?
By setting clear goals and making sure you achieve them, you can begin to reduce your overall stress.
One simple handout I use with clients is a goal setting sheet.
Goal Setting
My Goal is:
My Target Date is:
To Reach my goal I will do these three things:
1)
2)
3)
I will know I’ve reached my goal because:
1)
2)
3)
Two things that will help me stick to reaching my goal are:
1)
2)
This is a really simple way to get clear on what your goal is, your deadline, what you need to do, how you will know you’ve achieve it and, most importantly, what will help you achieve it.
I love the simplicity of it because I find that other goal setting models can become tedious and actually cause me more stress. We know that if we write something down we are more likely to accomplish it, so give this simple practice a shot.
Cheers,
Charlene
